About The UE Ranger
Healthy movement of the full upper extremity (UE) kinematic chain is reliant on subtle and complex neuro-physiological and biomechanical relations. Rehab Innovations has incorporated the science of motion with the assistive requirements of UE rehabilitation. The UE Ranger allows a patient to self support a natural movement sequence of their impaired upper extremity. The patient can support both reproducible precise coordinated movements or combined multi-plane functional reaching and elevation efforts.
The UE Ranger offers the capacity to begin the re-establishment of healthy movement at a passive level, and progress incrementally within a patient's own capabilities. The patient is able to both isolate a specific muscular contraction as well as integrate this effort into a synergistic whole.
The patient is given the capacity to sense joint positions, muscular activation efforts and avoid compensatory movement patterns. Ultimately a patient's proprioceptive awareness of functional movements is restored and pain resolved.
The UE Ranger is a custom designed instrument and rehabilitation system established specifically for the patients recovering from neuro-motor and or musculo-skeletal injuries with involvement of the upper extremities, i.e. (shoulder girdle, elbow, and wrist), and professionals working with such persons.
Design Elements
This instrument is designed to support the hand of the involved upper extremity in a molded plastic support of universal size, shaped to support either the left or the right hand.At the proximal end of the guidance tube is a padded handle to globally fit the non-involved supporting hand. The under surface of the palm side of the mold has an attachment allowing it to be coupled with an articulating joint. This rubber joint and the identical joint above the base plate, support multi-plane mobility with cushioned end ranges in both weight bearing and non-weight bearing application.
The telescoping guidance tubing and adjustment- locking collar allow for the fitting of varying individual arm lengths, wide diversity of rehabilitation intervention and progression of intensity, and/or skill level.
